I rock a lot of Vans, but I don’t always review them here. Today felt like a good day to break out these Vans Sk8 Hi Dress Blues, and I figured I’d take a chance on doing a piece for these.
Many times people don’t respond to Vans articles I do because Vans seem so commonplace. But that’s one of the great things about Vans – they really symbolize American youth culture as anyone can get a pair.
This particular pair is part of a 10 oz reissue pack that released with both a green and red pair. I had the green pair, however the bright green shade was throwing me so I sold them. I did hang onto this colorway though, as I think it’s a little more versatile of a colorway.
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these are nice and sturdy. The rugged 10 oz canvas really does it’s job and the synthetic leather on the Vans stripe seems to be a decent quality as well. These are so simply constructed that there is not much else for me to say other than kudos to Vans for crafting a solid shoe.
How Do They Fit?
The only downside to the rugged material choice is the weight – these definitely are not as light as a more modern shoe or a running shoe. The Vans Sk8 Hi Dress Blues do fit true to size and are fairly comfortable.
The only real complaint I have about this type of shoe is that, similar to Blazers, these take forever to lace up and get on and off. But if I’m reaching for a shoe that can be dressed up or down, I need look no further than these!
