I don’t think I’ve done a pair of Vans on here with a full review yet, so when better to start than the present? These Vans Era Pendleton are exactly what the name says, a pair of Era’s covered in a Pendleton material.
These feature a tribal pattern along with Pendleton branding on the tongue tag and insole. These are part of a pack of Pendleton kicks that were preceded by another Pendleton pack that is a collab with Taka Hayashi.
I’ve always been a big fan of Vans and they definitely present a lower cost alternative to other kicks. They tend to keep their fingers on the pulse of what’s popular, so while everyone is buying up Pendleton Nike ID’s and spending tons of money, some of us that don’t want to commit that much to the whole Pendleton thing but still want a token pair of kicks can look to Vans for a stylish pair without breaking the bank.
The trade off is the break in on these. Even with the leather liner and cushy insole, these could scrape your ankles and generate heel rub, so I usually wear Eras with bandaids or thick socks the first few times to block friction between my ankles and the shoe, until they break in. These are also fairly heavy. That said, once broken in, the Vans Era Pendleton are really comfortable, and of course I’m digging the unique look of the tribal pattern and the nice warm material.
