Normally I don’t get new collabs, but these Saucony Shadow 6000 Freshwater are extremely dope!
The shoe is done in collaboration with West NYC and celebrates outdoors and fishing! The browns used on the shoes represent the earth while the blue represents water. The materials are based off of other elements of the fishing experience (more on that below). My pair came with two extra sets of laces and an aqua colored box with West NYC branding.
My preference is a light colored jean with a grey or white top. The brown on the shoe opens up a lot of possibilities and the white makes it blend well with a lot of different combinations. I could even see these with some dark blue denim and a flannel!
Overall, these were not that hyped as Saucony still doesn’t get the full recognition it deserves in the sneaker collecting community. This to me is actually part of the appeal! One day pairs of these will dry up at retail and on eBay and they will eventually become hard to get, just like any other slept-on pair. I seriously watch for every Shadow 6000 that drops due to the looks, comfort and potential for dope materials and highly recommend this shoe to basically everyone!
Materials
The grip tape type material on these is rugged and supposedly are based off of the no-skid areas on a fishing boat. The cork insole represents the grip on a fishing rod handle. The aqua areas of the shoe appear to have a 3M reflective quality to them. The suede and multiple textured leathers all give so much depth and detail to the shoe, making it truly remarkable in terms of materials. Also, as expected, the suede is buttery! Great overall quality and attention to detail on this shoe!
Fit
The Saucony Shadow 6000 Freshwater collab with West NYC fits true to size and is oh-so comfortable! Of course, we have that killer Shadow 6k shape – still the front runner as my favorite sneaker model ever!
