Nike SB Dunk Low Pro B (Parachute Beige) Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

The Nike SB Dunk Low Pro B in Parachute Beige is basically a retro that takes things all the way back to before Nike SB Dunks existed.

The Pro B is the model that serves as a precursor or in-between for Nike Sportswear Dunks and Nike SB Dunks. I’ve reviewed a few on this very site!

This is the first model where Nike made some changes to theoretically make the sneaker more “skateable”. They took the regular NSW Dunks and added different elements to different releases. Some Pro B’s featured suede, while others featured a fat tongue, tongue straps and/or a combination of these features.

This pair takes inspiration from the “Putty” colorway from the Pro B era. It shares a pale “wheat-like” colorway on the entirely suede upper and a gum outsole. The tone vaguely reminds me of the “Grit” SB Dunk Low from back in the day.

Looks-wise, the sneaker is perfect to me! The main difference here between these and an actual Pro B would be the Zoom Air insole – this innovation wasn’t added to the Dunk until Nike SB.

One cool detail to note is that the “SB” on the tongue tag is made the same white color on as the tag itself, so that the “Nike” stands out and the SB is somewhat hidden. Additionally the eyelets are closer to the traditional/old style of Dunk and SB Dunk where the bottom two eyelets go over the toecap instead of behind.

This pair comes from the Purple Box series. It includes two sets of flat fat laces: both different shades of beige.

Materials

The composition here is pretty simple, focusing mainly on suede. As anticipated, the upper features a smooth suede throughout. It’s not a super long-haired suede, but it is soft to the touch. To me, the quality is good here!

Fit & Comfort

Unlike most SB Dunks, this pair is a bit more forgiving at true to size, thanks to the construction. While the padded upper, particularly the tongue, still offers a snug feel, it’s less restrictive than usual. Sticking with your normal size should be fine for most people, but if you still find them a bit tight, going up half a size is always an option for added comfort.

The suede uppers here also contribute to the comfort, being softer and more flexible than standard leather, which enhances the overall fit and reduces stiffness from the jump.

As for the Zoom Air cushioning, I don’t find it very noticeable during casual wear. However, the support is solid for standing or walking around, making these a great choice for daily use.

If these are sold out in skate shops or online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
