After my pick up on the Touch of Lime colorway of these, I wasn’t sure if I was going to grab more pairs of this shoe. Turns out, I did! I copped the Royal Tint and Dusty Peach colorways
This is definitely more of a sporty/tech type of shoe than a classic casual look. I would go with track or jogger pants over denim unless your jeans have a super narrow taper. One of my favorite looks with the model is joggers and an oversized hoodie. The mix of color on the typical pair is fairly quirky so I would avoid other bright colors and stick to neutral tones with these.
Obviously, I went from having doubts on these to being a big fan. If you feel turned off by the materials or clear sections of the shoe, I encourage you to try a pair, and you might go the same way I did and begin looking forward to more releases!
How Are The Materials?
The shoe has a translucent plasticky upper with some smooth suede and leather on the eyelets and a cork insole. This isn’t what I would call a “materials” shoe, as Nike has geared these more towards the comfort/looks department. To be honest, covering these in some kind of super thick suede or premium leather would almost defeat the point of the shoe. Meaning these are supposed to be a sleek, futuristic, minimalist and deconstructed model rather than a buttery casual shoe.
How Do They Fit?
The Nike React Element 87 fit true to size. I find my toes go almost to the front of the shoe (which I don’t mind on this model) with just enough width for comfort. The upper is somewhat flexible in that it will conform slightly to your foot.
