Nike SB is all about taking inspiration and putting it on foot. The Nike Dunk SB High Iron came out in 2003 during the silver box era.
They get their nickname from the official colorway which is based off of the Detroit Lions uniform colors. For me, the color scheme is great but it’s not the highlight of the shoe. The silver box dunks really represent what a pair of dunks should be. Hold these in your hand and you will see and feel the quality difference immediately. Current dunks are dope in their own way, but no comparison to the footwear from the early SB days.
Last time I pulled out the red Polo hoodie, it was with the Heinekens a few days ago. At the time, I thought I wouldn’t be reaching for it again, until I got reminded by someone on Facebook that I hadn’t reviewed Irons yet. When assembling these into an outfit, there’s a temptation to play it safe with some greys, blues or other neutral colors. A colorway like this actually lends itself well to an additional color, in this case red.
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these are legendary. The point of these shoes is the suede. The silver box days produced some of the best suede on an SB and these are no exception. The suede is so lush you could literally pet these. At least, I do. Don’t judge me.
How Do They Fit?
The Nike Dunk SB High Iron fit true to size and are very comfortable. They are so soft and comfy! The plush suede will likely conform to your foot. The materials on these really lend themselves to comfort, a sharp contrast to the stiff dunks of today.
