Skater Reese Forbes helped design these kicks that, like many early SB’s, did not bring a lot of hype initially. Eventually, as SB’s gained popularity, the relative rarity and overwhelming quality of this shoe caused the opinions of collectors to change and the Nike Dunk Low SB Wheat Forbes became one of the most sought-after pairs of its era.
This was a shoe that I knew I had to have when I first got into collecting SB’s, and eventually I was able to track down a pair in decent condition in my size for a not-too-disturbing price. It was definitely worth it, and this masterpiece has a permanent spot in my top dunk SB’s.
White tops and light/medium wash jeans are a must for these for the average outfit. If you want a more rugged look, go with a darker denim and maybe a flannel or a grey top. Beware of denim stains from darker jeans on these.
How Are The Materials?
The all suede upper is so plush, it puts current releases to absolute shame. This shoe is the epitome of buttery wheat. Like, these literally look and feel like a stick of butter. Materials fiends should consider these a grail.
How Do They Fit?
The Nike Dunk Low SB Wheat Forbes fits true to size and is very comfortable. The shape and tongue are quintessential Orange Box SB. Not only that, the suede construction adds a level of flexible comfort not found in many SB’s, including those from the first series.
