Today I’m sporting a collab between Nike and Concepts. Known as the Nike Dunk Low SB Holy Grail, these were a Concepts-only release.
Quality issues notwithstanding, the Holy Grail pack contained some really nice footwear – see my article on the Dunk Highs here. Some features include the different red and blue tongues, Concepts branding on the tongue and special insole graphics and quilted sockliner. People that physically lined up at Concepts may have been treated to special wood or even cement packaging, but even those of us that ordered online received a special silver box with gold detailing in a stained glass pattern and gold tissue paper inside. The shoes ship with red, white and blue laces and gold skull deubrés.
This shoe stands out so much that the only true solution is to wear a super low key outfit. I went for some dark jeans (to help the shoes pop even more) and a grey tee with a white layering tee underneath. This is one of my standard “let the shoes do the talking” type of outfits. That approach will work best with these.
How Are The Materials?
The shoes are made up of an iridescent upper that shifts in color slightly depending on what angle the shoes are viewed. It definitely will crease up on you! I don’t have any other shoes like this for a quality comparison, but the kicks seem well made, at least with respect to the uppers.
How Do They Fit?
The Nike Dunk Low SB Holy Grail fit true to size and are somewhat comfortable. Newer SB’s just don’t have the extreme comfort of the older ones. However, at true size these are bearable for me. Not uncomfortable, but I’m not amazed at how cushy they are or anything either.
