Nike Dunk Low Medium Curry Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

The Nike Dunk Low Medium Curry are one of these all suede upper Dunks that look great in a wheat-type colorway. This pair released back in 2021 and sold pretty well at the time. I heavily considered getting a pair at the time but couldn’t afford the resale. Three years later they have re-released and I’ve finally grabbed a pair!

The sneaker gets its name from the colorway and has a nice mix of sail and tan tones. I love a suede wheat Dunk, and these are in that same type of ballpark to me.

There is even a subtle bit of contrast amongst the brown parts of the shoe. The eyelet suede is a similar color to the rest of the overlays, only slightly darker and with a different suede hair length. This always looked interesting to me online, and it looks even better in person.

The restocks and shock drops have been great for me as a Dunk collector. Apparently this shock drop sold out, so I feel very lucky that I happened to be checking my phone when the notification went out.

These come laced with sail laces in a regular Nike Sportswear box with no other extras included.

The shoes come in at $125, but when they came out in 2021 they retailed for $110. I’m not sure why they jacked the price up on what is probably the exact same shoe. Still, the suede quality does outshine the materials found on general Dunk releases that cost around $115 today. So theoretically we are paying more for a better shoe than what you could get today.

Materials

The suede here is decently soft, although not as buttery as that found on pairs in the Ugly Duckling pack. Overall the sneaker feels premium though, especially compared with the shiny plastic leather of normal GR Dunks. We get a couple different textures too, with a longer, shaggier suede around the toecap and back panel and a shorter haired, softer suede on the rest of the shoe.

Fit & Comfort

The suede uppers require almost no break-in time. I find these to fit on the roomy side as is typical for non-SB Dunks. I went true to size on my pair.

Per usual, there is a lack of cushioning tech on a retro model like this. So we get basic, solid support underfoot. The sneakers are still comfy enough for casual wear, and more comfy than some of the other stiff-material-having Dunk releases that tend to drop.

If these are sold out in stores, you can try looking for them on eBay.
