I used to have the first version of these dunks from 2001, just like I still have my 2001 Plums. These Nike Dunk Low Ceramic are a retro of the original 2001 Japan-exclusive colorway and are part of the unofficial “ugly duckling” pack. The pack includes these, Plums and Veneers, all of which have received retros this year.
Plain orange Nike Sportswear box and some Nori (greenish-grey) laces. That’s it. Not a single other extra. Pretty slim offering for a shoe that was highly sought after and sold out in minutes!
I still can’t believe I sold my old pairs of Veneers and Ceramics. At one point I felt I didn’t need the whole set. If only I knew! I might have to pay resale after a year of not doing so just to complete the set with the Veneers. I will definitely take having to buy this inferior but still awesome shoe as a lesson to be more careful about what I sell off in the future!
How Are The Materials?
The upper is comprised of mostly suede. The suede used is very good for a modern Nike Sportswear release. While not amazing compared to some of the recent pairs of New Balance I’ve reviewed on this site, the materials are great for a $100 shoe from Nike. Overall if you are into materials these will definitely suffice although they don’t hold a candle to the suede on the original release.
How Do They Fit?
These Nike Dunk Low Ceramic fit true to size for me. Ordinarily I get a size 10 in 99% of Nikes, and I got that for these as well. While the originals were way more soft and supple, these are a bit stiffer feeling. The shape also seems augmented slightly. They are still fairly comfy, but just like with the material quality, these are not going to touch the OGs.
