Similar to the Supa Dunk Highs, the Nike Dunk High SB Gino is low to high conversion retro of one of the original 3 Dunk SBs ever made.
The shoe gets its name from SB team rider Gino Iannucci, who helped come up with the colorway. The obvious difference between these and the OGs is these are a hightop while the OGs are a low. Gino dunks are typically identified by the additional perforations for ventilation. The spare laces included are obsidian.
You can basically treat these like a black shoe, but the obsidian parts open up a few more pairings. These look decent with grey or light wash denim, while black pants might be too much black. I can even see khaki colored pants with these thanks to the obsidian. Whatever pants you choose, a black top is an easy way to finish off the outfit. Dark blue/navy can work as well.
I’m a big fan of these! I think these might even look better as a high than a low, which sounds blasphemous but that’s my honest impression having just gotten these on feet. Overall I’m glad I decided to go back and cop these as I think they are overall a very nice Dunk High!
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these are actually pretty good! The leather used is pretty basic smooth leather, not bad but nothing exciting. However, the suede is actually very smooth, and dare I say, somewhat buttery! I’m pleasantly surprised by the texture of the suede which is about as good as the OG, although the grain is not as long overall. I think these do the most justice quality wise of any of the 3 OG dunk low to high retros.
How Do They Fit?
These Nike Dunk High SB Gino work best at true to size and of course have the stiffer SB High new age fit. That said, these are still a little more comfy than some other more recent SBs I’ve acquired, probably due to the nicer suede used adding some give to the shoe. I definitely would still avoid wearing these all day the first couple of wears, at least until they are broken in.
