Today I’m sporting a popular collab between Nike SB & Familia skate shop out of Minneapolis. Familia went with the midwestern theme on this one due to the store’s location and decided on the Paul Bunyan tall tale as the inspiration of the Nike Dunk High SB Blue Ox, basing the theme on Bunyan’s blue ox, Babe.
The sneaker has plenty of dope features on it to tie into the theme such as the embroidered emblem on the rear of the shoe, the “horn” detail on the swoosh, the special Babe graphic on the insole and the flannel ankle liner (a nod to Bunyan himself).
As far as materials, we have some dope suede on the heel wings, eyelets and lower rear of the shoe, a leather swoosh and toebox and some embossed rubbery leather for the rest of the shoe that supposedly represents Babe’s hide.
With respect to comfort, these are fairly average for a relatively modern Nike SB. If you find SB Dunks to be snug, you wouldn’t be the only one. In this case, going up a half size from your normal true size can be helpful.
The shoes come with white and black laces, but besides that no extras.
