I’m a big fan of the recent Air Max 90 recrafts, and I just picked up another pair; the Nike Air Max 90 ACG.
These take their inspiration from the outdoor/hiking inspired ACG (all conditions gear) releases from Nike through the years.
Nike Hiking, which originated around 1981, eventually gave rise to the ACG line of products in 1989. The colorway on this shoe is typical of the colorways of the models released from the first ACG sneakers. These ship in a simple orange Nike Sportswear box with 3M-speckled black rope laces. The sneakers also ship with a rubbery plastic “Hike Nike Man” hangtag. The insoles feature a print of one of the original ads for the ACG line.
I really didn’t NEED another pair of 90s, but I found this colorway hard to pass up. Ever since I sold my pair of Acapulco Gold SB dunk highs, I’ve been wanting something a little lighter but in the same vein, and these fit the bill!
How Are The Materials?
These feature GR-level materials, but geared towards the more rugged ACG theme. Instead of regular mesh we get a ballistic nylon mesh. Instead of the felt suede, we get a more rough and rugged suede. The purple areas feature a basic smooth leather while the leather swoosh has some added striped texture. Overall these shoes were made to beat up and so premium quality materials is not the focus. The materials are fitting for what type of shoe this is paying homage to.
How Do They Fit?
I went true to size with these. It gives me a little bit of room around the pinkies without being too large. These sneakers are very comfortable given the older tech, and as usual the recrafts bring a bit less weight and a bit more comfort than the traditional GR AM90.
