I haven’t bought some “special” AM1s in a while, so these Nike Air Max 1 Curry are a welcome add to the collection. These were a GR in 2003 and 15 years later have made their return alongside two new colorways.
Either dark blue or light wash denim will work with these, and will determine what color top you wear. I would avoid khakis and be careful with black or green pants when wearing the shoe. The browns used are definitely on the yellow side, so keep that in mind when building your outfit and try to avoid clashing.
I get it that these are a special colorway, but for $150 retail I was expecting a better box, a hangtag, extremely buttery materials or SOMETHING. I feel like the quality is on par with $110 pairs I’ve gotten recently. At least I finally own this colorway, but I feel like $120 would have been a more fair price.
How Are The Materials?
The quality on these is inconsistent from panel to panel! While the suede used on the side panel is smooth and buttery, the mudgard/toebox suede is rough and of poor quality. The mesh and leather used seem average. While this shoe is more about the historical significance of the colorway rather than the quality, the box says these are a premium, but I’m not seeing that reflected on the shoe.
How Do They Fit?
These Nike Air Max 1 Curry fit snug and are somewhat comfortable. I went true to size and they feel tighter than other GR Air Max 1s I’ve picked up recently. True size would have probably been a safer bet here. The shape is at least decent; I did perform a minor reshape as standard practice, but overall these looked good out of the box.
