The Anniversary AM1s are a real treat for those that want a true OG colorway on an Air Max.
These Nike Air Max 1 Anniversary Game Royal definitely fit the bill as they are a retro of one of the original drops of the model. Like other Anniversary pairs, they come in a special box with special paper, spare laces and a hangtag
I used to own the pair from 2009 in this colorway and for some reason sold them. Good thing they finally rereleased and I managed to get enough cash together to get a pair, as I feel the rerelease is superior. I’m not sure I’ll be selling these ever!
If you read my blog much, you know I struggle with blue kicks in outfits. Luckily, there’s a lot of neutral grey and white to play off of, which means I can stick to my “layers of grey” technique with these. Get a couple different shades of grey with maybe a white accent in the outfit and you’re ready to go. These also look decent with khaki colored denim, provided the pants have the correct taper.
How Are The Materials on the AM1 Game Royal?
The materials are pretty good on the Nike Air Max 1 Anniversary, although nothing stands out as premium.
I normally would rate these pretty low as they use the felt suede, however it’s surprisingly soft and the quality is not bad for this type of material. Especially noticeable when I compare these to the 2009 releases of the OG colorways which used a suede closer to sandpaper. The mesh seems to be of a slightly more premium quality as well.
How Do The Air Max 1 Game Royal Fit?
The Nike Air Max 1 Anniversary Game Royal fit true to size and are very comfortable.
I would have liked my true size of 9.5 in this shoe, however the size 10 was so much less expensive on on the aftermarket at the time I bought a pair. Thus, my pair is ever so slightly roomy, but still very comfy and don’t feel like boats or anything. The shape is pretty much on point as well, nice and sloped.
