After my recent J Crew collab pickup, I’ve been on their site a bit more. I saw these go up and hesistated at first, but now these New Balance 997 J-Crew 10th Anniversary are in my collection!
These celebrate 10 years of the two brands collabing. The tonal grey colorway is supposedly based on tin – a metal typically signifying a 10 year anniversary.
These ship in a grey New Balance Made In USA box and include two paper Made in USA tags. They come laced up with flat grey/3M speckled laces. Apparently there is a special box, but I got stiffed! I’ve emailed J Crew customer service to see if they can shoot me one of the limited boxes but until then I have to make due with this regular box. Some features on the actual shoe that immediately set these apart are the debossed N logo on the side, X stitched into the heeltab and co-branded insole. This shoe actually shows that it’s a J-Crew shoe, unlike the 1400s I’ve previously reviewed
These were a shoe I felt I needed to grab before they were all gone. My size is already sold out on the J Crew site as of now. While the pics of the debossed N logo and the overall colorway didn’t seem too impressive in the product pics on J-Crew’s website, in hand these are amazing!
How Are The Materials?
The materials are of course insanely good on this Made In USA release. The suedes all over the upper are super soft with plenty of backstrokes. The nubuck used on the side panels is very soft as well, and you can even see the grain and wrinkles from the top quality leathers used. The 3M on the laces and on the strip around the ankle is super bright. I’m overall very satisfied with the actual sneakers we got from this collab.
How Do They Fit?
These New Balance 997 J-Crew 10th Anniversary are comfy at true to size. These fit similarly to other 997s so if you are familiar with the model already, these will fit the same. The profile shape is very on point as is typical with this model.
