I’m fresh off copping the sequel to this shoe, the 992, and I’ve been loving it! Going back in time even further, the 991 first released in 2001 and was popularized as the shoes Steve Jobs of Apple fame wore.
How Are The Materials on the 991?
The Made in England level of materials is definitely in full effect, as the suedes and leathers used are of high quality and well put together.
While the suedes used are not the softest I’ve ever felt in my life in terms of NB quality, they are definitely up there. The leather bits and seem to be of a decent quality as well; nothing special but still better than the average Nike GR. Finally there are mesh and 3M hits around the shoe. The mesh itself seems to have some 3M/shiny quality to it. Overall these definitely bring it on materials.
These ship in a basic brown New Balance Made In England box. They include a paper Made in UK tag and 2 sets of flat laces. Otherwise nothing else is included with the sneaker.
New Balance 991 Sizing
The New Balance 991 are comfy at true to size. These return a nice, snug fit at that size. These fit ever so slightly smaller than the 992.
Rather than risk not being able to get any 991s, I paid full retail for both pairs in my collection. I feel like I got my money’s worth in order to have them! I definitely recommend this to anyone that’s a fan of New Balance and/or the 990 series.
Where To Cop the New Balance 991
You can shop colorways of the 991 at New Balance, sneaker boutiques and aftermarket sites, although being Made In England means the better prices are had in the UK. US sites tend to mark up the Made in England pairs.
