It’s been a while since I bought some Old Skools. These NASA x Vans Old Skool Firecracker Space Voyager release in a pack alongside a bunch of different kicks and clothes and sold out on a few sites.
This shoe features a number of details such as the USA flag patches on the back, the multicolored outsole, the NASA branding on the side and insole (complete with insole graphic) and pulltab on the tongue.
Orange is one of the more versatile colors on kicks out there depending on the shade used. In this case, the shoes look great with light or dark wash denim, grey or khaki jeans and even black pants. Ordinarily I’d say stick with jeans, but in this case the kicks even look great with sweatpants!
The materials are nice on these. The uppers are basically leather with a nylon tongue. The quality of leather used is great, especially considering these retail at $85. Vans can sometimes really bring it on quality at a very low cost. I often wish other companies would use their example to create better product inexpensively.
How Do They Fit?
The NASA x Vans Old Skool Firecracker Space Voyager fit true to size and are very comfortable. I tend to go with my Nike size in Vans, so a 10 rather than a 9.5. Usually Vans hit my pinky toe in a weird way on the 9.5. In this case, the soft leather gives these a bit of flex for a quick break in period.
I struck out on the white pair of these from the collab, but I think these are actually the more interesting shoe. I’m not sure why NASA is so big right now, but I’m glad I was able to get a quality pair of kicks featuring the organization’s branding!
