I took advantage of a sale on the Asics website to grab these Asics Gel-Sight Carbon and I don’t regret it one bit!
I’d never owned a pair of these, and this particular version gets it’s name from the colorway. These dropped in tandem with some Gel Respectors and other Gel-Sights in a sort of “pack” utilizing the carbon color code. According to Asics-Tiger, this model dates back to 1992 when it came out as a trainer for the Japanese Olympic Team. One notable look on these is the chunky heel stabilizer.
Grey! “Match the greys up and let the kicks shine” should be the motto here. You could go with a summery outfit of light denim or khakis and a white tee, but going with tonal grey outfit is going to be the move in Fall/Winter for these. Try to minimize the levels of pink anything that you are wearing and let it just be an accent color on the shoe.
All in all, I’m happy with my first pair of Gel-Sights and look forward to grabbing more pairs. What with the bulky shoe look coming back into style, the big heel stabilizer is going to be a plus. This shoe is a great combo between that chunky look and a sleek retro runner look, highly recommended!
Materials
The materials on these are pretty good! The suede looks a bit more lush than it actually is, but it is still decent enough, especially for a GR pair of Asics. I think these give a pleasant surprise, since its always a mystery if the shoes will be as nice in real life as they are in pictures online.
Fit
These Asics Gel-Sight Carbon fit well at true size. The shoes are very comfortable! In the future, I could probably size down for a snug and more “runner-like” fit. The toebox has a fair bit of room in it and the suede material gives it a lot of give. If you have wider feet, stick with true size and you’ll get enough room for your toes to move.
