I’m guessing the Asics Gel Lyte V Full Bloom was a 2015 Easter-themed release. The full bloom pack also included a Gel Lyte III and GT-II, all of which came in Easter-ish colors.
The whole full bloom concept just screams springtime. Throw in the speckled area on the midsole and these things have plenty of personality! This is the type of shoe I held off on buying for awhile until it came down in price and I finally caught a steal on Jimmy Jazz.
Gel Lyte V’s are really dope kicks although a lot of times their GR’s don’t get the most attention from the sneaker community. Which is a shame because I think the V’s are the best pair out of this pack! Actually, I’d rank it GLV > GT-II > GLIII in this case, which is out of the norm for me since I’m a big Gel Lyte III fan.
How are the materials?
In pictures online, it looks like the suede on these is butter, but in real life it’s just ok. Definitely not reaching the epic lushness of some old school SB’s or even some Made in USA New Balances. However, the materials are definitely better than your average Gel Lyte V. Thus, in my head these occupy a kind of “in-between” space where the quality is pretty good, but not mind-blowing.
How do they fit?
The Asics Gel Lyte V Full Bloom fit true to size and feel great on feet. The neoprene tongue and suede construction ensure that these fit comfortably snug yet have enough give around the toebox area. I definitely recommend some suede Gel Lyte V’s for optimal comfort from this model. All in all I’d say these are some of the comfier V’s I’ve gotten! And of course that toebox shape = perfection! These will give any old school runner fan the look they are going for.
