These are one of my favorite pickups in terms of GLVs. The Asics Gel Lyte V Aluminum / Carbon are bright and colorful and get their name from the colorway.
I went with some medium denim and a grey hoodie. Since these pop with a lot of color, my advice is to keep the rest of the outfit relatively bland/monochrome to let the shoes do the talking. I’d avoid wearing too much blue or yellow and let those interact on the kicks instead.
Overall, I know what the deal is with GR Asics bought off their eBay page. It’s a crap shoot in terms of material quality, but that is the only negative towards the shoe. The mix of materials and the colorway are interesting and in my opinion on point!
How Are The Materials?
Similar to my other recent GLV pickup, the materials are not great on these. The suede is definitely rough, however the mix of materials takes center stage thanks to the hit of ballistic nylon on the back. These also eschew a mesh toebox for all-suede, albeit of questionable quality. I like that they include rope laces new, and overall these are more about the material mix and colorway rather than the lushness of the suede.
How Do They Fit?
These Asics Gel Lyte V Aluminum sport your typical V fit of snug but comfortable at true to size. Of course the neoprene tongue helps with this, and these maintain a great pointy shape even at true size. Those with wider feet or sensitivity to a snug fit may want to size up.
