My last Asics pickup (and last pickup of 2018) was the Size? x Gel Saga. After that pickup, I realized I had almost passed on one of the more historical Asics releases of late! These Asics Gel Lyte OG are done up in the original colorway of the model from 1987.
I like pairing kicks like these up with either black joggers or dark/black denim. For tops, there’s a bit more freedom; black, navy, grey and white all work with these kicks. Overall a more plain fit will allow the orange to stand out more on the shoe.
I can’t believe I almost didn’t cop these! This retro is a piece of Asics history and so if you’re a fan of the brand, I recommend swooping a pair to add this OG colorway to your collection!
How Are The Materials?
These are some retro runners and I’m starting to see that even the originals didn’t have premium materials. These have your standard felt suede and basic mesh and leather, but it’s actually fitting given the look they’re going for. While not terrible, if you’re a materials fiend this probably isn’t your shoe. If you understand the more “true to the OG” feel of a shoe like this, then the quality is adequate for what the shoe is.
How Do They Fit?
The Asics Gel Lyte OG fit true to size. IThe shape on these is really good out of the box, although I did my typical reshape to get it even more pointy!
