The Asics Gel-Lyte III High Voltage supposedly helps mark the 25th anniversary of the Asics GLIII.
I’m not sure what electricity has to do with the anniversary, but they’ve added voltage print to the sockliners and rope laces and marble print on the midsoles to complete the look.
The high voltage pack also includes a purple colorway. Overall, the theme is well executed on these and I’m really feeling the grey/yellow colorway, so I had to grab these!
These are a GR, but the materials beat out GRs from other brands easily. The combination of suede, mesh, leather and 3M really create an interesting mix of textures on the shoe. The materials are of decent quality and the construction on the shoe is great. The build is solid for a runner as this is a retro and not a modern ninja-shoe-watersock runner.
The Asics Gel-Lyte III High Voltage fit true to size and are insanely comfortable. One thing to get past is the split tongue – one of the things that makes the GLIII unique. The tongue actually makes the shoe more comfortable, but the looks of it can take some getting used to. Overall, its a small price to pay to have a dope looking, comfortable shoe with great materials for $100 or less!
