Air Jordan 1 Low Shadow Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

The Air Jordan 1 Low Shadow are a low top version of the classic OG Jordan 1 High colorway. A similar version of these released in 2015. The main difference between releases here seems to be the larger swoosh of the older version. Otherwise you get the same type of look.

Although these are marked as “OG”, this colorway never released as a low when the OG J1 lows were first dropping. At this point, I think Nike is referring to a cut or style of Air Jordan 1 low when they call a pair an OG.

I personally wear lows 99% of the time these days, so although I love this colorway in the highs (and I still have my ’09 pair), I feel like the lows will get a lot more wear.

These come laced with black laces in a grey and black Nike box. They also include a set of spare grey laces.

The shoes come in at $140, which is priced a little higher than other versions of the Air Jordan 1 low. However, this should be reflected in the cut and quality difference vs the less expensive pairs.

Materials

The black leather is nice and soft and has a decent grain to it. Meanwhile, the grey leather is a little less so, but not terrible. Overall, these have a decent level of material quality and leather. I think at this price point you get a fairly good bang for your buck.

Fit & Comfort

I went true to size on these, and the somewhat soft leather around the toecap is definitely helping with the break-in. It could just be a trick of the mind, but I feel like the J1 lows have a slightly more accommodating fit overall than the narrow-fitting highs.

We get an encapsulated Air Unit in the midsole, but it doesn’t add much in the way of comfort. So we get solid, basic support underfoot. The insole feels decent for step-in comfort and sneakers are still comfy enough for casual wear.

If these are sold out in stores, you can try looking for them on eBay.
