Here’s a shoe that I’m surprised got a retro. The Air Jordan 1 Hare Jordan takes after the AJ7 Hare, but puts the colorway on a pair of AJ1 mids.
Like the Air Jordan VII, these sport a multicolor tongue and some perforations on the side panel. These even feature a “Bugs Bunny” jumpman logo. The whole idea originates with Nikes ties to Warner Bros cartoons i.e. the Space Jam movie. In any case, while the most recent retro of these is from 2015, this particular pair is the 2009 version.
I’d say these are unique for other reasons besides the Bugs Bunny theme. Typically Air Jordan 1 Highs are a fairly popular shoe while the mids tend to be ignored by collectors. Thanks to the theme and perceived low availability of this colorway though, the Hare Jordan 1s are one of the more popular mids!
How Are The Materials?
The materials are decent on these. The tan parts are a short haired suede/nubuck type of texture while the white parts are smooth synthetic leather and the tongue is neoprene (a homage to the AJ7). While there’s nothing inherently wrong with the feel of the materials, this is one of the hardest shoes to keep clean! The toebox gets dingy and suffers from eyelet rub quite easily. Be ready to stress over getting these dirty.
How Do They Fit?
The 2009 Air Jordan 1 Hare Jordan fit true to size and are very comfortable. Say what you will about the comfort on Air Jordan 1s, but the mid-cut versions are way easier on the feet than the highs. The materials on these are fairly pliable too, which adds to the comfort. All in all, I recommend these to any fans of the Air Jordan 1 that want a more interesting theme to go with their kicks!
