The Adidas Tubular Runner Weave Scarlet Red is a somewhat different take on the now popular and ubiquitous Adidas Tubular model.
This particular variation attempts to lighten the load with some material differences. This is pretty much the opposite of the direction the Tubular X. Frankly, I’m surprised at how little attention this colorway is getting! Considering it looks really good in person and on foot. People slept on these and now they are going for the super low on Finishline. Which is a good thing because I highly recommend getting a pair of these!
These have a woven mesh upper with suede hits around the eyestays as opposed to the mostly neoprene uppers of the traditional Tubular. This definitely affects the weight and comfort of the shoe in a positive way. Also, the material quality is not bad and the build quality is more than acceptable!
The mesh on the Adidas Tubular Runner Weave Scarlet Red makes these feel lighter and more comfortable than other Tubulars I own. The fit on these is true to size. The only real issue with Tubulars is that if you’ve never tried a pair, they chunky sole might make you think there is tons of soft cushioning. The reality is that these provide a more “stable” type of comfort similar to a pair of Air Max than lightweight or cushy comfort like some shoes with a lunar outsole.
