The Adidas Superstar is one of the most iconic sneakers in existence. The model started out in 1969 as a lowtop version of the Pro Model basketball shoe.
The rubber “shelltoe” is meant to help prevent toe injuries when wearing the sneaker around. Superstars owe a lot of their popularity to rap group Run DMC wearing the shoes and talking about them in songs like “My Adidas“. Sneaker collectors, hip hop fans and fans of casual sneakers can all agree on the influence and impact of the Adidas Superstar.
This shoe goes with just about anything! I like to pair them with lighter denim and a white top. I think this look really allows the black to pop off the shoe. These also look decent with shorts if you employ some no-show socks! Great shoe to rock with damn near any outfit all year round!
Materials
These are simply constructed for the most part, with smooth synthetic leather uppers and the trademark rubber shelltoe. For a shoe as mass-produced as the Superstar, the materials are actually really good! The leather is thick yet supple, and the rubber toebox means these do not crease easily. Overall, I am not disappointed in the slightest regarding the materials!
Fit
The Adidas Superstar in White & Black fits true to size and is fairly comfortable for the most part. It’s kind of a long, narrow fit and almost feels like I could have gone a half size down. The tongue on this version is nice and padded although initially the shoe was a tad stiff. These become very comfortable when broken in although compared to some lunar or boost-soled shoes they may come off a tad heavy. In any case, if you are any type of sneaker fan, you should definitely get a pair of these in your collection as soon as possible!
