The last Adidas I tried out were the newer Ozweegos and so it was time to return to a classic model. The Adidas Handball Spezial are not to be confused with the SPZL line, but are their own model altogether.
The original Adidas Handball is a shoe from the early 80s. From what I understand, the styling of the shoe is heavily soccer-inspired like many Adidas casual shoe models. This particular retro comes in a regular Adidas box with blue laces.
I had like 4 pairs of these when a round of retros dropped in 2012 and always regret selling them. I’m glad I got another chance to get a token colorway for the collection with this retro. I highly recommend not sleeping on the quality on this shoe!
How Are The Materials?
These feature suede and leather. While the leather gets the job done, the real star is the suede! Its pretty good! The shoe is soft and definitely has that buttery feel to it that suede sneaker enthusiasts love. Overall the materials are the main reason I got this shoe!
How Do Handball Spezials Fit?
The Adidas Handball Spezial fit comfortably at true to size.
Generally I go with a 9.5 in Adidas (vs a 10 in most Nikes). These fit very comfortably at that size and the cushioning is definitely akin to other casual retros, so these are easy to wear for a few hours at a time.
Where To Buy the Adidas Handball Spezial
You can find Spezials on Adidas as well as sneaker boutique and aftermarket websites.
