Coming off a couple of premium AM1 pairs, its time to go for some more straighforward colorways like the Nike Air Max 1 Desert Sand!
This pair of AM1s doesn’t have a nickname so I’m just calling it by its colorway.
This pair has light wash written all over it. While I’m sure some black denim or a black outfit would look pretty crisp with these, a much easier route is to go with the light wash jeans. Pair that with a white or grey top and you have an easy outfit that will look super clean.
You buy a shoe like this for shape, colorway and model. Materials and inspiration aren’t really the main selling points here. That said, these definitely excel in all areas you would want them to!
How Are The Materials?
These materials aren’t quite as good as the past couple of Air Max 1s I reviewed, but they are passable. The suede isn’t buttery but at least it’s not the sandpaper texture from years past. The mesh is more of a normal, straighforward mesh and the midpanel uses some smoother suede/nubuck type of material. The swoosh seems to be a nice textured leather. All in all, not a “materials” shoe per se, but definitely good enough if you know what you’re getting into with a modern GR pair of AM1.
How Do They Fit?
These Nike Air Max 1 Desert Sand fit true to size. I recommend true size on most kicks like this, while I like to mess around with half size down personally. I can’t recommend half size down unless you are used to wearing a snug fit on runners. The less thick materials as compared to the premium pairs have an added benefit of a little bit more flex, which gives these plenty of comfort when broken in.
