In a quest to round out my New Balance collection, I’ve added these Hanon x New Balance 520 Fisherman’s Blues to the box stacks.
For the inspiration the shoes take on the look of water, and feature Hanon branding on the insole. My pair came in a regular NB box with a branded hangtag and some spare lace choices. The in-store Hanon release also includes a dustbag and special box.
These types of shoes are always challenging for me to build a fit around. My instinct is to grab some black pants and some kind of black/grey/blue top to pull it together. Thanks to the black and white on the shoe, certain washes of blue jeans also work. I’d try to avoid any pants that are too close to the shades of blue on the shoe.
Why not have a nice pair of 520s in the collection? And if you’re going to do it, then why not make it a collab? I’ve always been a fan of Hanon collabs, yet this is actually the first pair I’ve owned. The shoe is well done and I highly recommend it to anyone trying to get into the NB 520 or just for fans of the model in general.
How Are The Materials?
These are made out of soft, buttery leather. The materials are simple, yet high quality on this pair. Normally I’d opt for a suede pair of NBs, but in this case, a lot of attention was clearly paid to making shoe these kicks have a smooth feel on all panels of the shoe. While these don’t explicitly say Made in the UK or USA, the materials are up to par with such a release.
How Do They Fit?
I found these Hanon x New Balance 520 Fisherman’s Blues to fit very comfortably at true to size. The shoe is a bit long. If I had gone down a half size, the length would have been perfect, but the shoe would have also been too tight on the sides. Also note the shape on these is actually pretty good slopewise, if not a little too rounded in the front.
