I’ve picked up a few Diadora recently, but these Diadora Aeon OG definitely bring the retro vibes way harder than many pairs I own.
The colorway screams 90s, which makes sense since that’s when the Aeon originally released. Some notable key features include the speckling/gradient on the midsole, red/green diamonds on the outsole and the plastic double action window towards the outer rear of the shoe.
For a pure 90s look, go with the light wash jeans and a colorful top, perhaps a windbreaker or something like that! Don’t be afraid to fully embrace the aesthetic if that’s what you’re going for. Personally, I think you can also take a modern twist, sporting these with some black denim and a nice black or white top.
Here’s a shoe that’s all about aesthetic. That term gets thrown around a lot these days, but we have here an example of a pair that should trigger appropriate levels of nostalgia. If Saved by the Bell was your thing back in the day, you’ll definitely get why these are dope!
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these are nothing special. Standard smooth leather and mesh construction. For me, the shoe is less about quality build and more about aesthetic. I noticed that the paneling was uneven on a lot of pairs, including mine. Overall, I’ve seen a lot better quality from Diadora, but for a retro these are passable.
How Do They Fit?
These Diadora Aeon OG fit true to size, with the neoprene sock bootie tongue being a little difficult to get my feet into. I’m going with a half size down anyway (I’m crazy). Seriously though, the leather near the toebox is so thin on these that they actually give easily and break in quickly. The shoe provides a decent amount of comfort given that the technology is over 20 years old.
