Puma has been on my good side lately and so my eyes have been open and searching for new pairs to try out. These Puma Blaze of Glory Soft Glacier Grey fit the bill, as they have a cool, premium vibe to them.
The Puma BOG first came out in the early 90s from what I understand, although I’m not sure how many people were checking for them then or now! However, the model actually has a really dope shape to it and by today’s standards doesn’t seem as weird as it might have been back then.
This particular pair has a lacelock system with some skinnier laces – not typical of the Blaze of Glory. The “soft pack” in general seems to be about the muted colors, different lacing and material choices.
How are the materials?
Speaking of materials, the suede on these is actually fairly decent! I thought it was going to be crazy buttery considering these have that “premium” look to them, however it definitely isn’t as lush as a pair of old SB’s or even current Shadow 6000s. It is however not that felt crap found on a lot of GR’s. I would say overall the materials and construction are decent. One thing separating these from other Puma Blaze of Glory releases is the perforated suede toebox (vs mesh which is more common).
How do they fit?
The Puma Blaze of Glory Soft Glacier Grey fit true to size and are definitely comfortable. They have a neoprene type liner which allows the shoe to conform to your ankles a bit and the rest of the shoe has the suede which provides enough give to not make these feel tight or snug. The toebox looks a little odd when not on foot, but provides a nice shape when worn. I’m stoked on these and will probably be copping another pair of Puma BOG’s soon!
