Puma and Alife have constantly been collaborating, and these Puma R698 Alife Peach Bud are definitely a standout for me. Just the shape alone in pics online was enough for me to cop.
Apparently, these are based off of an NYC theme with respect to the architectural styles present in the Lower East Side. These feature the Alife triple diamond design near the toe, as well as an Alife print on the inner sockliner and branding on the tongue.
I definitely recommend light or medium wash denim with these. Top should be navy or white or some kind of combo between the two for the easiest combo. Black denim could actually also work but you will have to get more creative with finishing the outfit up top.
I don’t own too many pink shoes but these definitely seemed like a good pickup. Also digging the different shades of blue used on the midsole, which gives these a 90s art deco vibe to me.
How are the materials?
The suede on these is surprisingly nice. I’m not saying you’re going to get Made in America New Balance or premium Shadow 6000 suede, but it’s not that BS felt suede that you might get on a lot of GR Puma Trinomic R698s. The materials and construction on these definitely pass mustard!
How do they fit?
The Puma R698 Alife Peach Bud fit true to size and are nice and comfortable. This is the first pair of this model I actually decided to cop as I was always turned off by the materials before. The soft suede and mesh toebox basically insure that the Puma R698 x Alife are going to provide ample room for toes without resorting to the banana or shovel toe found in many equivalent Nike running shoes and I’m now reconsidering a lot of R698s that I had previously slept on, now that I know the materials can potentially be dope and the comfort is there.
