Essentials – what does that even mean? Nike releases things under this title often with varying quality. Fortunately, the Air Max 90 Essential Black & Silver are really nice!
These are technically a GR but even though it’s not some high profile collab or a limited release, I had to cop! I like 90s but only certain colorways and this pair just looks raw on foot to me, and the quality is dope! They remind me a lot of the Takashi 2 SB Dunk, only I think the combination of materials and the lack of laser etching on these actually makes these a better shoe for my collection!
This is basically a black shoe with some white accents and little else. You can basically wear just about anything with these which makes them one of my favorite runners. I’ve done light wash denim and a white tee with a black graphic on it as well as a complete blackout outfit. It is nearly impossible to fail on an outfit with these.
How Are The Materials?
What I like about this pair of 90s is the two different textured suedes in the same color. The mudguard suede is rough while the suede around the toebox is really smooth and soft. The swoosh looks to be patent or similar, but whatever it is, the plasticky texture should prevent the silver from changing colors and turning green or black with age.
How Do They Fit?
The Air Max 90 Essential Black & Silver fits true to size and is very comfortable. Even though these are old tech, they are still pretty lightweight. I’m not sure I would actually run in these but I do believe they are great for minor athletic use and definitely comfy enough for all day casual wear.
