Collabs are dope, but what’s even doper are well-thought-out and executed collabs! A great example of an awesome joint effort is the Nike Dunk High SB Homegrown done in collaboration with Ithaca, NY based skate shop Homegrown.
The shoe is based off of nature; specifically the wooded landscape of Ithaca. Jesse Hill handled the artwork on the insole, and the shoe features boot laces and the tree branding on the outer heel and tongue tag.
These are a little weird to incorporate into an outfit. However, most shades of blue denim are going to work thanks to the brown on the shoe. If you’re rocking some lighter jeans or khakis, go with a lighter colored top, otherwise choose a black or dark grey upper for your fit.
I’m personally feeling the “wooded” theme and color scheme and both Nike and Homegrown did a superb job on the execution of this shoe! If you’re like me and miss the SB glory days of old, the materials on these will take you back! Highly recommended for a relatively recent SB release.
How Are The Materials?
While I’m not expecting silver box quality on new releases, these really are an exception as the pig suede is really nice! I was so happy when I opened up the shoe box and pulled these out for the first time. The suede is so buttery, I had to sit there and touch the shoe for a few seconds to really take it all in. The metal eyelets are quality and add a definite upscale boot vibe to these.
How Do They Fit?
The Nike Dunk High SB Homegrown are comfortable, and not as stiff as other recent releases. That said, you definitely want true to size on these; do not size down! I don’t care how nice a new SB release is, or how soft the materials appear, sizing down will kill your pinky toe!
