The Nike Dunk Low Waffle are not the first waffle-based Dunk to release. There is an SB Dunk High with a similar theme, although the SB’s do a better job of sticking to the theme.
This pair gets its nickname from the waffle print on the side panel. There is also a similar crisscross pattern on the tongue tag and on the “One Bowerman Dr, Beaverton Oregon” tag on the insole.
I really dig the wheat colorway (I have a thing for those) with the crisp white swoosh popping off the side and the gum outsole on these. The orange swoosh on the tongue tag really pops against all the beige.
These come in the regular Nike Sportswear box with some nice quality somewhat stiffer than usual white laces. The aglets are white with a tan stripe on them. Otherwise, no extras are included with these.
The $125 retail price indicates some better materials than your typical GR (General Release) Dunk Low. Those typically cost $115.
Materials
The extra $10 retail gets you some suede underlays and leather overlays. All the materials seem pretty good on these! The suede seems pretty soft on the toebox and the leather overlays have a decent feel to them as well. They do sport a slight bit of the overtumble texturing on them, but not enough to be a turnoff.
Fit & Comfort
These have a slightly roomy fit and the supple uppers equate to zero break in time. The step-in comfort is noticeable vs some other stiff Dunks I’ve purchased recently.
I think true to size is the way to go on this shoe.
There’s no cushioning system in a shoe like this other than a basic midsole and outsole. You get more solid support than more modern tech like Boost or React. The shoes are still comfortable with a basic feel underfoot, and good to wear for a few hours at a time
If these are sold out in stores, you can try looking for them on eBay.
