The Nike Air Max 1 Ultra Moire in white and red is I believe the first colorway of the Ultra Moire series of Air Max 1s.
Obviously, they’re going to set it off with the white/red colorway in tribute to the OG AM1 colorway. The Moires are a little different in that they eschew traditional materials on the uppers for a stiffer yet breathable synthetic overlay with a reflective mudgard and swoosh. This translates to the shoes looking kind of weird at first to those that are used to traditional AM1s.
While many sneakerheads are typically put off by any sort of deviation from an original makeup, these don’t really count as a retro, and they don’t appear to be hybrid model either. To be fair, the colorway is reminiscent of an old AM1 colorway, but the red is more of a watermelon shade thanks to the 3M feature, rather than a solid sport red or varsity red. Still, these are something new and relatively exciting, so even though people are sleeping now, the odds that these increase in popularity are definitely there.
The Nike Air Max 1 Ultra Moire is super comfortable in a way. You trade in the flexibility of softer materials in exchange for the light weight breathability of the Moire set up. All in all, I think these are dope and eye-catching and I kind of want to cop some more pairs! I went true to size, which seems to be the best look for these.
