In all of my pickups, I’ve never owned a collab from this brand! I’m not gonna lie, I grabbed these Undercover x Nike Daybreak after missing out on the Yeezy 350V2 in black.
The Daybreak first released in 1979 as a basic Nike runner. Jun Takahashi, head of Japanese-based fashion label Undercover, has added some new details for the collab such as a speckled midsole and extended heel clip. Undercover branding appears on the tongue, back tab and midsole.
Here we have an all black shoe with white accents, so the sky is the limit as far as outfits go. I think you would have to try to make a bad outfit in these. Be mindful of the aesthetic of the shoe, you don’t want your pants to cover these up, so at the least make sure your pants are tapered or otherwise cut in some way to allow the collab’s signature heel clip to be featured.
While this was ultimately a rage-cop / consolation pickup, I’m glad I snatched these up! Especially since they seem to be getting slept on, as limited kicks for retail is always a good thing! I can see this collab slowly rising in value when people realize what they missed out on.
How Are The Materials?
The materials are pretty decent on these! Nylon and suede keeps these close to the original make up of the Daybreak from the late 70s/early 80s. These also feature a soft, if not thin, bit of leather on the swoosh. The suede seems to be a nice quality. Although it is not the butteriest suede I’ve ever felt in my life, it does give the color change when you rub it and has an overall lush appearance.
How Do They Fit?
These Undercover x Nike Daybreak fit true to size with a somewhat roomy fit. Overall I find these very comfortable considering they only have basic cushioning and a waffle outsole.
