While I’ve definitely stepped my Boost game up, I still hadn’t gotten any of this model, until now. These Adidas NMD R1 Bred from the Ripstop Pack have just the colorway I wanted and the black boost is a plus.

The shoe gets its nickname from the colorway (black + red = Bred) and are part of a Ripstop Pack which also features a white pair with a red bit on the midsole.
This shoe is basically a black shoe. That said, you can either go with a tonal black outfit, or mix in some grey and/or white for contrast. You can even add in some red accents to match the red midsole plug if you want. Khakis or dark colored denim can also work with these if you don’t have any black pants. These also look great with joggers.
Now I have a pair of NMDs in the collection, and I’m glad I grabbed this colorway. This is a model that had a lot of hype which has now faded thanks to oversaturation. Good news for me since I was able to get these below retail even though they just came out. Don’t sleep on models like this for the sake of always staying “current”!
How Are The Materials?
I was initially unaware these had ripstop. Normally, this is a turnoff for me since ripstop tends to be kind of stuff and uncomfortable. In this case though, the material is just kind of layered in / added to the mesh, so the shoe stays flexible yet holds its shape. Overall then, the materials are better than expected. The shoe doesn’t scream premium in hand, but the quality is acceptable for what the shoe is.
How Do They Fit?
The Adidas NMD R1 Bred Ripstop Pack fit true to size . Overall I find these very comfortable, similar to the Iniki, but perhaps a bit stiffer underfoot and more locked down overall. I don’t “feel” the boost quite as much on this shoe, but it’s definitely still there.
