If it’s sneaker collabs based on trains that you’re looking for, look no further! These 24 Kilates x Asics Gel Lyte III Express are inspired by the railway that runs from Singapore to Thailand.
The shoes come with extra lace choices, and special branding on the tongue tag, deubré, laces and insole, paired with a special insole graphic.
These are actually kind of hard to pull off. Or rather, coordinating outfits are not immediately obvious. I recommend grey, khaki or dark blue pants with these to try and play off the brown parts of the shoe. A black or grey top can be an easy way to round out the fit.
I’ve turned my attention back to Asics for the time being, and not a moment too soon as they’ve been releasing some bangers! These kicks are so unique in makeup that I’m not sure we’ll see something quite like this out of the brand for a little while. Also, I’m checking off owning a 24K collab. I definitely recommend these to fans of this model or of Asics collabs in general!
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these are a bit of a mixed bag, but are overall premium. The focus here is definitely on the leather. The suede, while a very nice shade of green, is not super lush or buttery. It’s not terrible, but it’s definitely not elevated either. The suede on the ankle liner is a bit nicer than the exterior suede. The leather on the other hand is very nice in looks and texture. I think materials fiends will be ok with the level of quality used on the shoe.
How Do They Fit?
The 24 Kilates x Asics Gel Lyte III Express fit snug for Asics. I actually went a half size up but probably could have gone true to size and just let them break in naturally. I find these to be fairly comfortable, especially since I am used to the split tongue and snug fit. If these are your first pair of GL3, be aware that the fit and feel can take a few minutes to get used to. The shape on these is overall great on foot, I did reshape my pair for an extra bit of slope.
