Man, people were hating on the 2006 Air Jordan 3 Fire Red back in the day! I came into the sneaker game around 07-08 and one of the first J’s I was able to get easily was the Fire Red 3s.
There were apparent “quality” issues such as midsole paint chipping, which coupled with widespread availability put these on the bottom of the totem pole for most collectors. Ironically, this is the case with many Air Jordan 3s, even though many agree that 3s are some of the most desirable Jordan models to rock! I personally find the Fire Red to be such a dope colorway that I also bought the more recent retro so I could turn these into rain beaters!
Midsole paint chipping? Come on. These midsoles were not meant to withstand the test of time, so in my opinion, everyone needs to get over the midsole chipping! People overlook the very nice tumbled leather, nubuck and overall solid construction, instead choosing to focus on chipping of paint that would obviously degrade over time. Don’t listen to the haters! If you can get past the midsole thing, you will be pleasantly surprised as these use decent leather and are a very solid shoe for casual wear!
The 2006 Air Jordan 3 Fire Red fit a tad weird to me. I got my true size and after many wears, I feel like the shoe isn’t too tight but it hits my pinky toe anyway. So, I don’t feel any snugness in the shoe, but I still get pinky rub. I’m not saying this means you should size up… just letting you know what happened with my pair.
