I’ve done a couple of other reviews on the 1999 BTTYS dunks, but the red/grey combo found on the 1999 Nike Dunk High LE UNLV definitely looks good on nearly any shoe Nike puts it on!
I’ve always been a big fan of this colorway, and although these are ostensibly a UNLV Rebels color scheme, to me they will always remind me of the TV show Ultraman. Plus, robots are cool! Anyway, I had to have these in my 1999 set and consider these classics.
Just like other ’99 LEs, these are made out of leather with a nylon tongue. The quality on the leather is fairly good, and certainly better than any “remastered” leather on any newer releases. Also, these seem to have aged well, with only a little color fading on the grey parts of the shoe. The construction on these is definitely durable, these things feel like lightweight tanks!
The 1999 Nike Dunk High LE UNLV fit true to size. I was even able to go down half a size without issue! While a tad boxier in shape and not as cushy as some earlier SB dunk highs, these still maintain a good basic level of comfort and are totally worth purchasing and wearing around all day.
