Although there is no official link between Nike Skateboarding and popular stoner holiday 420, somehow there always seems to be a dunk release that correlates to an April 20th release. The Nike SB Dunk High Skunk, designed by Todd Bratrud, is a blatant example of this.
The shoes have a rather baked looking skunk printed on the insole and a stash pocket on the inner tongue, along with a purple and green herb-colored upper with bits of white mixed in and orange contrast stitching.
These shoes were instantly sought after and I was lucky enough at the time to know a shop owner who let me cop the day before release. Otherwise, I’m not sure how I would have gotten my pair!
Materials
The materials on these are pretty nice! I would say they are more “interesting” than buttery – the suede just looks great with the white bits and the contrast stitching throughout, adding to the whole theme of hairy, crystally dank. While the materials are decent, you’re still not getting that older SB quality on these. Compared to other blue box releases though, these are fairly top notch!
Fit
The Nike SB Dunk High Skunk fit a bit snug, but not uncomfortable at true to size. I could have sized up for a little extra room in the toebox but overall these work at true size. The material is definitely a bit stiffer than the outside would lead you to believe.
