After the Air Jordan 1 but before the Air Jordan 2, the Air Jordan 1 KO Bred released along with some other KO colorways.
They are similar to the AJ1, but feature a special ‘AJKO’ logo on the wings, a different outsole and overall shape and primarily canvas materials. I managed to grab this black and red (bred) pair when they retro’d a couple years back. They were set to make a return last year but apparently the entire stock had gotten mold while in the Nike Warehouse and could not be sold.
While many sleep on the AJKO’s, the shoe is actually historically a pretty rare shoe. Many of the older colorways only came out as samples and not as releases. I feel like the Air Jordan 1 KO Bred is a good alternative to those that didn’t pick up the Bred 1s when they dropped a couple of years ago. This pair is sporting a Jumpman logo, but recent KO releases have been given the OG High treatment with Nike Air branding.
Out of all Jordans, I think these are some of the best Jordans! Black and red is a classic shoe colorway and definitely the perfect Air Jordan colorway on nearly any model. I also find the KO’s to be more comfortable. The canvas having a bit of give and the interior being more ergonomically shaped than a pair of Air Jordan 1s. If you’re trying to grab a pair, be sure to go true to size!
